Incredible crystal-clear waters, extraordinarily pure white-sand beaches and a cosmopolitan population

Only minutes from Mareazul’s luxurious homes in the Grand Coral Riviera Maya, the vibrant, world-renowned city of Playa del Carmen can be found. “Playa”, as the locals call it, is noted for its excellent restaurants, luxury shops, open-air markets, handicrafts shops and unparalleled Mexican Caribbean-style nightlife.

Mariachi bands stroll along the famous, 3-km-long (1.9 mi) pedestrian mall, known as Fifth Avenue, as it takes on its usual evening ambiance of never-ending “fiesta”. Travelers visiting Cancún and Cozumel have discovered the charms of Playa del Carmen, but up until a few years ago it was still just a sleepy fishing village: today it is the fastest-growing coastal city in México. A ferry runs between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel, an island that offers one of the best diving experiences in the world. Playa is located in the heart of the Riviera Maya, 68 km (42 mi) south of Cancún. It has a semi-tropical climate with an average temperature of 25°C (77° F)--although it can reach 35°C (95° F) in the summer months—and sunny days during most of the year. Playa del Carmen is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Mexican Caribbean.
